Why am I travelling from London to Newcastle for the Celebrate Recovery UK Annual Conference?

by | Jun 1, 2026

At first glance, travelling from London to Newcastle for a day conference might seem like a big commitment—time, cost, and a 280 mile journey north. But for anyone involved in Celebrate Recovery, the UK Annual Conference is far more than a date on a calendar.

Since we heard about Celebrate Recovery and opened at Westbourne Park Baptist Church in 2022, we have experienced the transformation that it brings to our lives, and the lives of others. Throughout this time we have been so blessed by the work of the CR UK Team, supporting, advising and keeping us on track. Attending the 2025 CR Conference in Gloucester was my first experience of coming together with CR leaders and groups from across the country. It was a rich day of learning, meeting others, sharing stories and being resourced for the year ahead.

Leaving behind London’s familiar distractions for the day, makes room to pause, listen, and connect with God and others in recovery. Newcastle, described as ‘a vibrant city in North East England’, will be this year’s destination.  Throughout the conference CR ministry leaders and attendees from across the UK, will bring their own stories of pain, understanding, breakthroughs and celebrations of recovery. There is something deeply powerful about sharing the day with strangers who feel like family because we share the common language of grace and recovery. Testimonies, teaching, and worship remind us that we are not alone and that recovery is not something we do in isolation.

For leaders and team members, the conference is an invaluable time of encouragement and equipping. It renews our vision, reminds us of CR DNA, sharpens our skills, and reignites our passion for serving others through the Celebrate Recovery ministry.

London (or wherever you will be travelling from) to Newcastle is not just about the distance. It is about being present—physically, spiritually, and emotionally—to invest in our own recovery and to stand with others in theirs. The journey may be long but for those of us who make it, we will return home strengthened and inspired.  London to Newcastle: two cities, one story—brought together through the hope and healing that comes through Celebrate Recovery.  I hope to see you there!
