The large group worship time at Celebrate Recovery is the first Key or, as we see in the leader’s guide, the first pillar of a strong and vibrant Celebrate Recovery group. Worship points us to JESUS and clearly sets us apart from other recovery groups.
At its core, Christian worship is an opportunity to encounter the presence of God, bringing together individuals from diverse backgrounds. As we all come to deal with our life’s challenges and uncertainties, worship provides a place where we can all experience God’s love and grace.
Over many years of running Celebrate Recovery, we have seen those with no faith and many from other faiths attend our group and it never ceases to amaze me how everyone who attends has entered into worship, and the joy in my own heart seeing those with no faith singing the loudest. It’s not only the first Key in the foundations of Celebrate Recovery to be established, but it’s also where non-believers are first introduced to Jesus.
As we read in Psalm 150:1-6:
Praise the Lord. Praise God in his sanctuary; praise him in his mighty heavens. Praise him for His act of power; Praise Him for His surpassing greatness. Praise him with the soundings of the trumpet, praise him with the harp and lyre; Praise him with timbrel and dance, praise him with the strings and pipe. Praise him with the clash of cymbals, praise him with resounding cymbals. Let everything that has breath praise the Lord. Praise the Lord.
Psalm 150:1-6
There are many ways that we can do worship, listening to a CD, YouTube, having your own band, reading Psalms. There are plenty of worship CDs that we can use, can I encourage you all to get this first foundation Key 1 in place as soon as you can.
